Anthropologie Mania

I am officially obsessed with Anthropolgie. When I was little and lived down by the Rockville Pike store, I thought it was a boring furniture place. I Just bought an area rug from there for the bedroom and then I made a wish list on the site because I fell in love with the bath stuff. This is the shower curtain that I want to base the whole bathroom off of. There are towels and a bathmat to match. So cute! Here is the link to the wish list...

The Greatest Find of All

I finally had something happen that was blog-worthy. And Mr. Martin is forcing me to blog about this (he took the picture and signed me into blogger)...

While I was babysitting for Elizabeth Stockton today, she went for a little jog around the neighborhood. Upon her return, she says to me "Sarah, the neighbors are putting furniture out to get rid of and they have this great chair out there." Before we knew it, we see a pick-up truck and some people pull up to rummage. Elizabeth promptly went out there and snatched up the chair and put it in my trunk for me. There are two of them and they are so beautiful (and free). I couldn't wait to show Mrs. Martin, since she is the second hand furniture queen. I can't wait to put the pair in my future living room (or kitchen). Its the perfect color and matches the Urban Outfitters green sofa that I want. Now i just have to save up for it!

Sorry I have not been keeping everyone up to date! Just keep looking and I will catch you up soon.

Registry

I was not sure where to register for wedding gifts, but the decision is final now. Bed Bath and Beyond is the winner, with Urban Outfitters "wish list" coming in second. I still may do some from Crate and Barrel later.

Robert and I went to check out Bed Bath and Beyond and the sales lady brought us into her little Bridal Registry cubical and she talked to us for FOREVER. But we got registered. Robert, of course, had the sweet hand scanner. I pointed, he scanned. I am not exactly sure what he scanned when my back was turned, so if there are random things in there...don't ask me.

Here are some of my favorite things we registered for at Bed Bath and Beyond ...

This is the china that I picked! Kate Spade, so amazing! It's called Dogwood. This is my favorite of the day.

Below is the orange bathroom set that I love. It will go well the plum towels and bathroom paint job I am planning.

Yes! Its the amazing Kitchen Aide mixer that I have been loving for months. I didn't know where to go for the red or green, green won because I am painting the kitchen walls an olive like color.

My friend Connie sent me some home decor links and I found out that Urban Outfitters has a whole bunch of home stuff. They don't have a registry, but I made a wish list and people and can search for me as...Sarah Young in Woodbine, MD. The pillows are what really drew me there. Here are some of my favorites, a lot of their stuff will match perfect in the apartment...

The green chaise is absolutely amazing (an kinda expensive) but it would fit amazing in the living/kitchen area (they are connected). The chair would be great in a room I am painting burnt orange.

These chairs are perfect for my kitchen. I just bought a vintage 1970's teapot, sugar/creamer set (green) and a vintage tray with a green pear tile in the middle that reminded me of these. Good price too.

Love at first sight with these curtains. I didn't like any of the ones at Bed Bath and Beyond, but Urban Outfitters comes through with a flare.

This paisley rug is a 5x7 dream for me! I have been looking all over IKEA's site and the good ones are so expensive. I knew I wanted a black and white one for the living room (to go with the striped chair) and I have found it for a super great price!

This chandelier is so cute, yet not to busy or frilly. Maybe for the bedroom....

This green hook also reminded my of my recent vintage purchases. I picture a set of maybe 3 or 5 all in a row in the kitchen for hanging cooking utencils or pot holders on.

In the orange room, I wanted to do a wall of all different sized frames and I found this set of 10 from Urban. Great price too. I asked for 2 so I can fill up the wall.

This ends my favorites for the day. I wanted to put everything from Urban Outfitters on here, but you will just have to go find my wish list. The home stuff from Urban gives everything a little artistic flare that is just perfect for me. Click here for Urban Outfitters list. Click here for mine and Robert's Bed Bath and Beyond registry. Thanks everyone!

P.S. If anyone knows where to get some great unique mugs, I didn't want to register for a bunch of the same ones.

Who in the world is Sarah marrying??

You might be wondering who this Mr. Robert W. Martin is. How did they meet? Did he lure her with some tricky potion? Nope. Robert and I have been friends (at varying degrees) since Sunday School at church, maybe age 5ish?

Here is baby Robert, before we met. He started out with his parents and older brother, Jeff, in grandpa and grandma's Virginia basement. Robert and I always joke about how we hated each other when we were in Sunday school together. I didn't like all the moles he had on his face (especially the one under his nose, you can see it below. Who knows why kids are weird like I was?) and he didn't like that I was a giant.

It was actually Jeff and I that became good friend first(Jeff and Robert below), in about 8th grade. Jeff was in my grade and Robert was in the grade below, so it made sense.

This is actually a picture I scanned from my 8th grade year book. This was out middle school outdoor education trip. just recently, we were looking in it, and, in the group picture, Robert and I are actually right next to each other (we were not even really friends then). We all thought that was cute. Can you see us in the upper right corner?
In high school, Robert and I became better friends because we all sat at the same lunch table. I remember going out with him to the mall to find my best friend, Brittany, a birthday present in, maybe, 11th grade.
It all really started when I started to tag along at all Robert's band's shows. I had a couple friends that were in the band (Anapra) so, somehow, I ended up going to every single concert for a year or so. Robert told me that one of the first times he really started thinking about me was after he has a little operation that took him away from one of the Anapra shows. I stayed home with him and watched Gothika. It all went from there. We started doing everything together; going to look for CDs, books, out to eat, everything. Still, I didnt really like him more than a close friend. People would ask me, "So...whats up with you and Robert?" I would reply, "Me and Robert? No way" After a little while of being close friends, I went on a trip to Michigan for two weeks. It was THEN that I realized that...gasp!...I missed Robert! He was going to leave for Georgia the day before I got back from Michigan, but I switched my flight to a few days earlier and surpised him (he had already realized he loved me months before). Since then, we have been growing together and trying to follow God in our relationship. We cannot wait to spend our lives together! Hopefully Robert will post his version soon!

Honeymoon Booked!

Robert and I have been fortunate enough to have Paul and Maria Martin offer their timeshare to us for our honeymoon. The way their timeshare plan works is like trading. You have to submit your share (theirs is in Florida) and then try to find one that someone will trade (something like that). Robert and I didnt want to have to fly anywhere and we wanted to have our own car with us, so Mr. Martin began searching. He found a beautiful resort off of Myrtle Beach in South Carolina! Its called the Plantation Resort Villas. All I wanted was a beach!

Here is an example of one of the rooms in one of the resorts. When Robert was looking at the wedbsite with me, he saw this picture and said "oh, thats us!"

The room we will have has at leased 2 bedrooms, king bed, kitchen, jett tubs, living room and more. The resort pool area looks amazing. This might not be our exact one, but it will be similar!

IKEA Love!

I have been exploring IKEA's website over the past few weeks, trying to figure out what to get for mine and Robert's future apartment. So, to my delight, today my mom and sister, Jennifer, and I went to indulge me in my wildest fantasies. We didn't actually buy anything big today, but I fell in love, even more, with the big four poster bed I have been oogling. I can now understand how Tyler Derdent from Fight Club felt when talking about his IKEA addiction. Now that I have my own place to shop for, its a whole different kind of longing.

This is the amazing, four poster bed that I met and became well aquainted with today in IKEA. I know what you are thinking...yellow? But it goes perfect with the bed linens and wall color.

This is the set of sheets that I got from Crate & Barrel for Christmas. I thought the contrast of dark, rich brown and the yellow would be amazing. Then I would paint the walls a deep brown color as well. The ceiling will be white and maybe one wall too. Any suggestions?

Now this is what I am not too sure about...I love this armchair. Its big and comfy and there is a couch and loveseat to match. These would go in the living room. The living room and kitchen in the future apartment are connected, so I was thinking about painting them both an olive green. Maybe I should get the matching couch in the pain cream or white???
The dilemma is that there is so much that we need, but we have to pace ourselves with what we should get first. I am thinking of not even registering anywhere and just asking for IKEA gift cards! I guess we need some appliances too, ha.

Meet the Bridesmaids

Brittany Kovlak has been my best friend since high school. I asked her to be my maid of honor because I did not want to have to choose between my two sisters, and she deserves it! She has been such an amazing and faithful friend. She is a Junior at U of Maryland, Shady Grove Campus and is studying accounting. We could not be more opposite! An art major best friends with an accounting major. Britt always says how she loves that when we are together, we don't even have to talk to or entertain each other and we have fun!

Anna Catherine is my 14 year old sister who is in 8th grade at Covenant Life School. She is a caring and sweet sister who is fun to tease around. I am excited to include her in the celebration!

Jennifer is my 18 year old sister who is a senior at Covenant Life School. She is one of the funniest people I know and we have fun laughing together at our favorite TV show (The Office and Arrestted Development) giving Anna Catherine a hard time. Even though she likes to take goofy picture of herself, I love her.

Kimmie Martin has been friends with Anna Catherine for a while because they were in the same class at Covenant Life. Kim is 14 years old and in 8th grade. She is being homeschooled with her sisters this year and it seems like she loves it. Kim is so sweet and is always puts up with her silly brothers.

Stephanie and Amanda Martin are two of Robert's sisters who are going to be bridesmaids. Steph is a Freshman at UMD, College Park studying engineering. She is smart, sarcastic and witty and we love her. I feel bad that we are kicking her out of her basement room to live in our basement apartment at the Martin's.

Amanda is 12 years old and is being homeschooled during her 7th grade year. She is the baby of the Martin family but don't under estimate her, she is always making everyone laugh and can even outwit her older brothers.

Michelle Martin (here with my future mother-in-law, Maria Martin) is 16 years old and is also being homeschooled this year as a sophmore. I think that Michelle is the most excited of all the girls to be a bridesmaid. It is going to be a crazy time with all these girls!
Leah Hilton (right) is one of my closest and most favorite cousins. We are only 4 weeks apart in age, so we have grown up being close friends. Every summer, from birth, I have gone to Michigan to spend some amazing summer days with her. She has always made my times in Michigan fun and memorable. Here she is with brother, Drew, and dad, Uncle Dick. Leah is the only bridesmaid who is out of town (frown) but we can't wait for her family to come down to MD
in May for the wedding. I miss her!
